To Goop or Not to Goop?

Postby CheckSixMace » Tue Nov 25, 2014 12:52 am

Marine Goop appears to be the sealant of choice among many riggers. In looking at the fine print, the product appears to be not recommended for polyethylene as well several other common plastics.

What has been your experience with Goop, or do you prefer another sealant for sealing small gaps when running 2-stranded wires.

Any marine silicone will work. goop is pricier than the other alternatives.

Do the other silicones express compatibility issues with HDPE plastics? If so, have you noticed any issues from their use?

Look for a product called Lexel. It takes a few days to set up but is well worth it. Runs about $7 a tube and stays flexable.
