Homemade Slide tracks gear?

Postby Steve_Du » Fri Mar 28, 2014 6:08 pm

Anybody have any ideas for homemade gear for the slide track system on the Tarpon 120? I think the stuff is a little overpriced.

I have access to a lot of fabrication stuff so I think I could get by with long bolts connected to some strong aluminum crossbars that I have. Any ideas?

I have a camera mount made out of PVC and I use toilet bolts as slide trax bolts like these. I also heard square bolts work good in the slide trax.

You can also use a plastic cutting board as a mounting plate for accessories. Just cut the cutting board down to the size you need it and drill some holes in it for the bolts.

Thanks for the toilet bolt tip! I recently covered a nearly useless center console on my kayak and I'm thinking about mounting a track down the center of it now...

No, I've thought about painting it but I figured it would eventually peel off and look like crap.

I don't think it has seen the water since Glen Arbor. The lakes are finally starting to open up around here. I'm in the process of adding a custom rudder and figuring out how to mount a Lowrance Elite 4 HDI fishfinder. The transducer for these HDI units are pretty large compared to the DSI transducer.

Sorry Steve, Not trying to hijack your thread!
