Getting ready to start putting stickers on my new Kayak, any special way to put them on, or just slap them on ?

What brand yak is it? WS are good for stickers, the rest take some work.

I usually clean the spot for the sticker with a little isopropyl alchohol, let it dry off and then bam - put the sticker on!

On my Jackson kayaks I have had no probs with DeYoung, Yakattack, Hook1, Secret Weapon Lures and NRS stickers.

The tricky thing with some of the stickers is slowly peeling the top paper off without removing or moving individual letters or graphics. Also, make sure its all lined up properly and steer clear of places that are going to get rubbed by rigging.

Have fun pimping your yak!

I clean the area of fish slime with a general purpose cleaner, then use a little rubbing alcohol to completely prep the area. Once the alcohol is dry I simply peel and stick.

Like Sansan said, the rougher, "textured" surfaces of some kayaks don't work well for stickers/decals.

Yours doesn't have enough slime to clean...But I clean mine, blast it with a hairdryer til its warm, put a couple dabs of marine goop, stick it, and blast it some more so it seals around the bumps on the sides.

On the two Native Watercraft and one Jackson kayaks that I've had, I've always just wiped the area with a damp paper towel and let it dry. Then put the decals on. Never had any problem. They usually fade from the sun or get scratched up before they begin to peal off.

I found this "how to" guide on the Hook1 site for applying decals;
