If you cross over into to Canadian waters from U.S. waters (Michigan) to fish, you will need an Ontario fishing license (if fishing Ontario waters). Some of their size requirements and creel limits may be different from Michigan laws. If their size limits are shorter than Michigan's or if their creel limits are more than Michigan, then you don't want to stop and fish Michigan waters on the way back into Michigan waters. If you get stopped by a Michigan CO and you have short fish or an over limit of fish by Michigan's laws (but legal in Ontario) you will get a ticket.
